Mercedes-Benz DETOUR back with Season Four
Dubai, UAE, November 8, 2015: It’s that time of the year again and the Mercedes-Benz Detour 2015 proved to be yet another exciting opportunity for adventure lovers to conquer the roads. Dubai’s most awaited treasure hunt of the season was made possible for the 4th time in a row and this time the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC was the prize to the winning team.
The premier motor sporting event was brought to Dubai by Gargash Enterprises in collaboration with Detour Events Management and supported by 7 days, Masafi, Fitness First and Fly Dubai. Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts from all over the UAE participated in the 190 kilometer trail laid down by the Detour events.
Teams were tested for their physical, mental and navigation skills, where safety and cooperation were of paramount importance to enable teams to achieve the goal, in their own or rented Mercedes-Benz cars. They were judged on their performance and agility across six pit-stops and awarded points for finishing tasks. The teams had a series of different challenges presented to them at every stop ranging from mental and navigation skills to fitness boot camps, offering the participants a unique and exciting experience. The average speed and additional time given to complete the pit-stop challenges ensured that proper and safe speed limits were maintained. With a mix of memory, quiz and image recognition, the en-route activities kept the participants engaged throughout the drive.
Gargash Enterprises General Manager, Karl-Johan Sandesjo said, “We are ecstatic about the fact that people have loved this concept. We had more teams who wanted to participate but unfortunately we could only accept the first 100. The teams have all given their best and you can see the zeal in the way they perform in every challenge. I am glad to be part of the Detour and we’re very pleased to see the success of the event in the 4th consecutive year.”
Team no. 33 ‘Smoking Aces’ took home a brand new Mercedes GLC, attaining an extraordinary winning score of 157 points. Competing with 99 other teams is definitely tough but in the end it’s all worth the effort when you can drive back home in your very own, 2015 GLC 4MATIC, that has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine producing 211hp.
Design driven, modern and athletic - the new GLC from Mercedes-Benz succeeds the GLK and has broken completely new ground in the mid-size SUV segment. It is much more spacious and refined and signifies an evolution for the second generation of its family. Turning heads with its sleek design and taking the lead in terms of technology, comfort and performance, the Mercedes-Benz GLC fits seamlessly with any lifestyle, whether it is for a family trip on or off- road, a sporty adventure with friends or just a comfortable driving experience around the city.
The Mercedes-Benz DETOUR keeps getting bigger and better with every passing year. Once again, Gargash Enterprises leaves us in anticipation of the next Detour. All you have to do is, wait for registrations to begin and make it to the first 100.
