Emirates Motor Company (EMC), Mercedes-Benz General Distributor in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain and the flagship company of Al Fahim Group, welcomed Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg along with Executive Team Director Toto Wolff at EMC showroom in Abu Dhabi on the eve of the final round of 2014 Formula One World Championship.
Attending the exclusive gathering from Al Fahim family were: Honorary Chairman His Excellency Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Mr. Ahmad Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Chairman of Al Fahim Management, and Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Fahim, Al Fahim Management Board Member.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the final race in the Championship, which has seen 11 teams and 22 drivers compete in 19 Grand Prix for the World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. Double points are earned in what should be an exciting final race on Sunday. Mercedes currently dominates the Championship, given that both Mercedes GP F1 drivers currently top the leader board in the Drivers’ Championship, and Mercedes heads the Constructors’ Championship with a clear 278 point lead.
Addressing VIP guests and select media at the exclusive event, Mr. Frank Bernthaler, CEO Automotive at Al Fahim Group said: “We are delighted to welcome our Mercedes AMG Formula One team here this evening. As the race season comes to a close, we would like to congratulate our champions and wish them the best of luck this weekend. This has been one of the most exciting F1 seasons, in no small part thanks to the strength, skill and stamina of the Mercedes team.”
Celebrating the racing heritage of Mercedes-Benz, Emirates Motoring Company (EMC) also treated guests to an exclusive preview of the much anticipated new Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS that will be available in the first quarter of 2015. As part of the special surprise, the car was driven into the showroom by both Formula 1 drivers during the event. The GTS is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG with a powerful AMG 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that underscores the signature AMG driving performance.
“Combining the superior qualities of a Mercedes AMG sports car with premium luxury and comfort, the new Mercedes-AMG GTS elevates Mercedes-Benz into a new, top-class sports car segment for the company” said Mr. Kamal Rafih, General Manager of EMC following the reveal of the car.
The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team will be competing at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from 21-23 November 2014 in Yas Marina Circuit.
